Financial Support for Clinic Campaign

Our activities require substantial financing. We accept donations from the general public, private businesses, international corporations, state bodies, business people, foundations and philanthropists. We also hold flag days. The Campaign for a National ME / CFS Clinic is a registered charity in Ireland, we are officially registered with the Charities Section of the Revenue Commissioners in Ireland. Our charity registration number is: CHY 16219 . Financial contributions to this charity qualify for tax relief in Ireland and European Union countries, the USA and Canada. You can claim tax relief for all financial contributions to this charity.

In today's world, it is important to know where your money is going. We believe in transparency and accountability, and we keep accurate financial records and accounts. These accounts are audited once a year by an independent auditor. These accounts can be viewed by members of the public. We also make financial returns to the Irish government every year.

We believe in taking constructive action - putting money, resources, information and skills to work to improve the lives of all ME / CFS patients. We issue Progress Reports every 6 months to ascertain the level of progress achieved. Progress gives CFS patients hope.

Activities which require finance

The Campaign for a National ME / CFS Clinic requires money and financing for the following activities:

(i) Lobbying the Irish government, the Department of Health and the HSE to finance the building and operation of a National ME / CFS clinic in Ireland. Lobbying is expensive ; our costs and expenses include the sending of emails, letters, phone calls, audio / video conferencing, travel costs to meet with government officials / civil servants, etc..

(ii) Lobbying private foundations, wealthy philanthropists and business people to (a) finance our campaign for an ME / CFS Clinic  (b) make a financial contribution towards the site acquisition costs and building development costs of a National ME / CFS  Clinic. This would help get things moving and encourage the Irish government to become involved. Time is of the essence here as there are thousands of patients enduring terrible suffering and many are dying of complications caused by the illness see Memorial section.

(iii) Lobbying the Irish government, the Department of Health and the Irish Medicines Board to designate certain medical drugs  for the treatment of ME / CFS. These include Ampligen, Immunovir, Human L
eukocyte Elastase inhibitors, MG132, Acclydine Therapy, Klonopin (generic: clonazepam), Olive Leaf extract (anti-viral), VegEPA and Naltrexone. These medical drugs have been proven to be very effective in treating ME / CFS in the USA, Canada, Britain, Belgium, and Mexico. Research articles have been provided on this web-site. This would empower Irish medical doctors to start treating the illness and bring about significant improvements in the symptoms and lives of ME / CFS patients. Our costs and expenses include the sending of emails, letters, phone calls, audio / video conferencing, travel costs to meet with government officials / civil servants, etc..

(iv) Building up a national network of patients, carers and others to achieve the above objectives  ie. a National ME / CFS Clinic and the introduction of certain medical drugs into Ireland. This involves public meetings in several Irish towns and cities once a month and accompanying planning. Work activity by volunteers every week to achieve our objectives. Our costs and expenses include renting rooms in hotels and community centres to host meetings, and contacting members by phone and email.

(v) Liasing with top CFS doctors, experts and researchers from around the world and learning more about their diagnostic and treatment protocols for ME / CFS, and how they operate successful ME / CFS clinics. This requires the sending of emails, letters, phone calls, audio / video conferencing, and financing visits to Ireland by these CFS experts and doctors.

(vi) We are continuously gathering and collating research into ME / CFS and providing it on the web-site for the benefit of all ME / CFS patients in Ireland and abroad. Our costs and expenses include financing an Internet researcher and web developer (part-time), web-site costs, emails, Internet connection costs, and the purchase of ME / CFS research journals and newsletters from around the world.
